Considering counseling can bring up all kinds of questions. Here are some of the most common questions. I hope they help you make a decision about starting therapy.
1. As a therapist, are you going to tell me what to do?
I’m here to help you or your child sort out thoughts and feelings so that you can make decisions in ways that will help you feel better. I won’t tell you what to do, but I will support you as you explore your options. As an experienced counselor, I will help you or your child understand what is not working and teach you the skills to help you get what you want.
2. Why therapy? Shouldn’t I be able to handle this by myself?
Research shows that parent-child Interaction and or play therapy can help many families. Many of my parents report relief from personal stress, depression, emotional eating, anxiety and relationship difficulties as they see their child’s behavior improve. They also report on the improvement their child made in school, at the grocery store, and in other various community settings. While you certainly have the inner resources and may indeed be able to handle this alone, I believe that having an unbiased third party – who only cares about you and you being happier – can make the process easier and sometimes faster.
3. Can you guarantee I will feel better after therapy?
My entire mission is ‘Peace of Mind and Heart.’ I focus everything I do on that mission. I believe in helping others live their best lives, and I want you and your child to feel happier.
I also know that people who attend counseling are 6 times more likely to feel better than those who try to solve their problems on their own. I can't guarantee you will feel better, but I will do everything in my power to assist you and your family in this effort.
4. Can you guarantee I will be happier in my life?
Like anything, you get out of therapy what you put into it. While I can’t guarantee you will end up happier in all areas of your life, I can say that my clients who stay the course and who show up committed to the process achieve results that make them significantly happier in their lives. And I promise to do my best to help and support you and your child on this journey. As part of that promise, I want your feedback along the way. I will actively seek out your opinions on how you see the therapy is progressing so that I can be of the most and best service to you.
7. I noticed you periodically offer an e-course. Can I just take your course and not go to therapy?
No. The e-course is not designed to replace counseling. It is a class that gives you information. It's very similar to a course you would take in school. It is not meant to substitute for mental health treatment or
8. Do you accept health Insurance?
